A Message from Sarah

From Our Music Director to You,

Welcome to the El Paso Symphony Orchestra's …79th Season. The heart of our existence is to bring you brilliant music! We hope to be a refuge for your busy lives where we can replenish your soul, and reach out to your heart to fulfill them, as you experience great music in the Plaza Theatre.

This season we take a "Journey to the Stars" with uplifting programs beginning in September with Prokofiev's remarkable Symphony No. 5 and Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto with Jennifer Koh. October will highlight Van Cliburn Gold Medal winner Haochen Zhang and Brahms' beloved Fourth Symphony. In November, our Dances of the Waves program will feature the classical guitar and dance, followed by Debussy's La Mer! We bring back a local celebrity and international star cellist Zuill Bailey in January for Dvorak's Cello Concerto. Come hear and see Holst's The Planets in February with multimedia footage from NASA's Hubble Telescope, as recreated by University of El Paso' film department. Finally, come and witness one of today's youngest finest Mexican tenors in April, Diego Silva, and celebrate an epic night of opera and romance to close our season.

We continue our commitment to bring you a standard of excellence in our performances, providing a relevant musical experience through our rich programming and introduce new solo artists to El Paso that will touch you through their brilliance, virtuosity and depth.

Thank you for being part of the El Paso Symphony, for your support, your generosity but most of all, to coming to experience each concert live with us!

Sincerely,

Sarah Ioannides, Music Director, El Paso Symphony Orchestra
